[Health & Safety] More Lessons In Killing For The Met

Posted by Lex Fear on April 5, 2009

I don’t think I want to be safe anymore. I don’t think I want the police to “protect” me from terrorists, anarchists or active protesters.

I’m not a member of the above groups, which means, being an innocent subject of the UK, my life is at risk when the security services are targetting the above groups.

Once again, security services were on high paranoid alert, itchy trigger fingers, or in this case, itchy baton hand.

And if we are to believe that the slaying of Jean Charles de Menezes was an honest, sincere mistake, WHAT BLOODY LESSONS WERE LEARNED?

I feel sorry for Ian Tomlinson’s widow and family. I feel sorry for the grueling smear and dirty tricks campaign that is about to befall them.

You know the drill by now, check the boxes which apply:

It will probably take about 3-4 years, and in the end they may be lucky to win a simple breach of the Health & Safety at Work Act against the Met, along with a “Sorry” and “Lessons have been learned”.

After all, if they can get away with shooting an innocent man, they can get away with shoving one too.

[Pseudoscience] Snowball Warming

Posted by Lex Fear on February 6, 2009

Watching news reports this week, it is appearing the man on the street that, as I predicted, global warming theory (uh, sorry, it’s a fact, because theory in science means fact… y’know like there is no word for speculation in science it’s all Feoryact) doesn’t have the ring of consistency to it as is being propagated, even before the recent snow storms.

Recent snowfall in the UK has perhaps helped the middle classes to stop and question something they are being told to believe in without question. The snowfall has managed to shut up even the loudest uninformed global alarming peddler, but it hasn’t prevented the more astute to start pedding two specific reasons, or rather, excuses for the snow.

The first one is an easy debunker. “Global Warming doesn’t mean it always gets hotter, it means more extreme types of weather!” Can anyone tell me what is so wrong with this argument? Well for starters it’s a catch all.. if you think about it, any type of extreme weather means global warming, hot or cold, dry or wet, delightful or devastating. If you’re trying to debate this logic intelligently you won’t win. Global Warming is essentially happening, regardless of the actual state of the environment.

The second one is this: Snowfall used to be much more common, but the Global Warming trend means that it’s occurring every 20 years (instead of, say, every year).

OK this is a bit more tricky, sounds believable right? But the remarkable thing about this argument is that it’s, like, almost dead on. We’re not talking about 25 years here, or 15 years, but we’re actually talking approximately 20 years. How are scientists able to predict this so accurately? Is it down to data provided by studying the global warming phenomenon or is it more like… the Zany Ones?!

Could it be scientists are stating 20 years, because, well, snow like this fell 20 years ago! A bit like if I told you house prices are going to rise this year because they’ve been rising since 1996?

I have one question for the Global Alarmists, if an unmoving linear Global Warming trend is happening despite record warmth, record cold, growing antarctic ice, receding antarctic ice, clouds affect data, clouds don’t affect data, we don’t rely on past data/history, we rely on past data/history, it’s not sunlight, sunlight fell in the Northern Hemisphere… can someone tell me how the heck we are going to know:

a) When we have succeeded in our mission to cool the earth down? and
b) If we actually do enter a Global Cooling period?

Perhaps if we start experiencing lots of freak heatwaves, this will be an indicator that we are in danger of Global Cooling and need to act fast to warm the earth up?!

[Economic Meltdown] Flash… Aah Aah He’ll Screw Everyone Of Us

Posted by Lex Fear on February 4, 2009

Overheard at a desk in a major investment bank today:

“This MP basically said that they’re creating an inflationary environment… 15% interest rates, not this year, but over the next 3 years”

Make of it what you will, personally it tells me that everyone in the know is aware of what is coming next and what is needed, but for some reason Flash Gordon and Alistair Darling are out of the loop or didn’t get the memo. It’s also becoming clear that Flash is intending to pull a Zimbabwe and start printing money (he calls this “quantitative easing” – which is another fancy financial bullshit term for printing money).

You see there is only two ways out of a recession, inflation or raising interest rates. You should know what happens when the government uses inflation, it’s been done before by the Weimar Republic and more recently Zanu-PF.

But what about the other tool, interest rates? Well, you see, this would cause millions of feckless, leveraged, mewing borrowers to realise the difference between debt and wealth – can’t have that, or can we?

The fact is we’re dangerously close to the edge of falling into hyperinflation and while its difficult to predict how disastrous this would be we do know that fixed loans would be eroded away, but so would the value of GBP, the value of any savings and investments too (you know, the things used to fund borrowing) – basically our ecomony would become worthless and most likely we’d all end up informally adopting the Euro.

So why does Flash want to print money? There can only be one of three conclusions, either he…

  • Has lost all sense of reality, delusional, thinking he is the saviour of the world
  • Is incompetent. He has no clue what he is doing, no clue how to manage an economy and has sat on top of the biggest economic bubble in the history of the world, taking credit for something he had no part in. Or…
  • Has engineered this, in part, on purpose. The most far reaching conclusion however I can’t help but wonder if he was hoping for a bust sooner, so that it would damage Bliar (and oust him out of office), or even, guessing (or feeling) he will lose an election soon, hoping to pass the bubble on to the Tories just before it burst (securing a short term for them, allowing him to be elected back into power at the next election). Far reaching but not inconceivable – considering all the warnings he has ignored over the 10 years he was Chancellor.

Whatever the reasons for his contempt of savers, the UK economy and the poor, all his actions are delaying the inevitable (and making it worse)… depression and potentially more civil unrest.

[Politics] Agorism – an Introduction

Posted by BHudson on January 24, 2009

Foreword – This is an introduction to the political theory of agorism, which Lex has kindly allowed me to talk about here. I hope you find it thought-provoking and interesting. Sorry it’s so long (but I think it’s worth it).

A (Fairly Brief) Introduction to Agorism

‘Just once, wouldn’t you like to read a manifesto that’s been practiced before it’s preached? I wanted to. And I did it.’ – Samuel Edward Konkin III, Preface to the First Edition of the New Libertarian Manifesto.

[Misdirection] Becoming Aware

Posted by Lex Fear on October 23, 2008

I have often wondered why it is that people, Londoners in particular, ignore or avoid the easiest and most efficient ways of doing things. Instead wander around on some kind of autopilot for the most part, only to ‘sync up’ when other members of the herd are in proximity and become one giant retard.

Why, for example, when exiting the tube, flock towards the nearest ticket gate along with 300 other people, when simply going a few steps out of your way to the end gate takes you out of the jostling crowd and out of the station faster?
Why bump into or brush past someone on an empty pavement and stand within a foot of someone on an spacious platform (Londoners especially)?
Why be extra careful to drive at 29mph in a 30 zone, but not use your indicators, or observing other road users when turning?
Why lie for a mortgage you can’t afford, for an overpriced property, instead of questioning the price and value? Why do people want low interest rates and high property prices at all?
Why do company drivers lose their job for causing death by dangerous or careless driving, but not one Met officer loses their job for causing death by whatever excuse they are giving this month?
Why do people using a car park wait for someone to load their shopping and reverse out of a space near the exit, whilst I drive past, park in an empty space and am practically out of the exit before they’ve removed their seat belts?
Why do people in the UK still pay for a television license when it is not enforced (run by private contractors with no police or court powers)?
Why pay for an expensive operating system and anti-virus solution, when their are better free and open-source solutions for both online and to order?
Why, of all newspapers, is The Sun so obsessed with sex crimes and sexual deviants?
Why is Gordon Brown now hailed a hero for not-yet-even-saving an economy that he allowed everyone and their dog to rape and pillage till it was destitute?

I’m not asking these questions for specific answers, in most cases the answer is obvious… the point of my rhetoric is to question everything and take nothing at face-value. Which leads me onto the thing which inspired this post…

Ironically enough TfL have released a video under a new initiative for road safety. Ironic because they’re practically showing their own hand when it comes to how they form policy.

Watch and see…

It’s funny yes, and I have to admit, I didn’t see it coming either, but it does help to sharpen your senses.

So, do you trust your own eyes to see what is happening in the environment around you? Do you believe what you read because it is in black and white?

Here’s a little exercise, next time you are watching the news, reading the paper or out and about, try to read between the lines, try to deduct what is not being said and study the environment around you to see what is taking place.

You might just find yourself first in line or on a more pleasant journey because you were not willing to be treated like cattle.

[Circular Wikiness] The Zany Ones

Posted by Lex Fear on October 19, 2008

One reason why you should never use Wikipedia as your only source for research or collaborating your story*. Also, do not trust everything you read in the dead tree press.

From now on, when anyone quotes Wikipedia to me in an online discussion, I’m going to call them “the zany one”.

[Housing Market] Don’t Get Fooled Again…

Posted by Lex Fear on October 18, 2008

So far I’ve resisted the urge to do an “I told you so…” post when it comes to the property market but I still get the distinct feeling that the general populace still hasn’t ‘got it’ when it comes to booms and busts – despite the fact there is now more information in the public domain than ever before – so much so that we should never be screwed over by an estate agent or indeed any salesman ever again!

I know that the past has always shown a trend of cycles, booms and busts, whatever you want to call them, it’s called the market – some win (those that do their research) some lose (everyone else). What the future holds, I don’t know. If enough people get hold of the information which is free and out there, I know it can change significantly, if enough people would only accept reasonably prices for housing, for example, there would be no booms. Imagine if people simply logged onto HPC or Property Snake, whilst having a gander at Our Property and the land registry prices for a street before bidding on a house… then maybe we could have a real truthful stable economy.. or at least stable housing market. Might even get fairer council taxes too…

For those of you that like a bit of schadenfreude (since no-one can get a mortgage or in their right mind would be buying now) I found a new tool the other day, Property Bee, which works as an extension to Firefox. What Property Bee does is collect data from users browsing a number of different property sites (eg. Rightmove) then inject it into the webpage as you surf to show you changes to the advertised details including prices. It also works for rentals.

What Property Bee does well is expose the dodgy underhand practices, reduction in asking prices and length of time a property has lay stagnant on the market. Property Bee gives power to the buyer and if enough people adopt this tool then it could really make difference for the future.

Check out this advertisement for example. £99,975 shared ownership, £199,950 original price… really? Install Property Bee and check out the history.

The tools are there, for free, when property passes the despair/blow off stage and begins to climb (and we have a few years yet) the there will ben no reasons left to fall for an estate agents claptrap again, ever.

[Asinine] Bankrupt Millionaire: Indiana Who?

Posted by Lex Fear on June 26, 2008

Looks like another fool got into a legal letter flame war with The Pirate Bay… and lost… spectacularly.

I’ve never heard of Indiana Gregg, but I sure as hell won’t be buying or downloading any music after reading her and her representatives ridiculous and embarrassing name-dropping bombing in their email.

“Having sat on cross parliamentary committees, resolved to regenerating music and culture in my country, i’m afraid you may just have picked the wrong person to cross swords with on this occasion.” Ian Morrow (courtesy of TPB)

Very stupid. Here’s the list of emails of the elites that Ian invokes to show how powerful and connected he is:

Normally I’ll just read the legal threats, laugh and forget about it but this one is the most asinine and presumptious yet. Just for curiousity, I’ll be watching out for copywrong discussion by the Scottish Parliament and press articles from The Mirror, The Daily Record and The BBC on copywrong.

It will be interesting to see how much influence the small label, bankrupt millionaire, Indiana Gregg has over these groups, if any. I’m aslo interested in seeing if the Scottish Parliament works for the people or the corporates.

HT: Torrentfreak

Oh and BTW: Ian, copyright kills culture, it kills creativity. Would we have heard of Shakespeare if media companies had existed in the 17th Century to make sure that none of his plays were reproduced?

How much exposure has Indiana Gregg actually had as a result of sharing of her music between friends? (a: probably not much TPB can do for her – click on the link for irony-goodness)

As far as anyone who has an ounce of intellect is concerned, Bittorrent is the new radio. But then is that really free?

It wasn’t video that killed the radio star, it was his own record label.

[Whoops] Sir Robert Mugabe

Posted by Lex Fear on June 26, 2008

KnightriderhoodIs it just me or was anyone else blown away by the fact Adolf had a Knighthood?

“Mr Mugabe, condemned over violence ahead of a presidential run-off election, was made a Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath in 1994.

The Queen has approved a recommendation from Foreign Secretary David Miliband to strip him of the honour.”- BBC News Online (where else?)

Ok there is multiple fail here, so where do we begin?

The fact that Sir Robert Mugabe even had a knighthood suggest the whole system of knighthoods is a farce and clearly broken.

Sure the Queen has taken the knighthood away now… Well done M’am, but to have to be advised by the critter, rather than being one’s own decision, shows a disconnect with the real world.

But stripping Sir Robert Mugabe of his Knighthood now is probably the worst mistake of all! Not only is it like shutting the gate after the horse has bolted, all this will do is feed his egomania and rhetoric.

I mean, what does Sir Robert Mugabe keep telling his people?

“The Commonwealth is a mere club, but it has become like an “Animal Farm” where some members are more equal than others. How can Blair claim to regulate and direct events and still say all of us are equals?” May 2000

“We have not stopped singing to the theme of unity and the theme of love. Even the whites are free to live here. But they must change. Your kind – the British kind – are very difficult to change. We rate them as the most conceited, the most arrogant, the most selfish and the most racist in our situation.” – June 2000 BBC Interview

“We are in a war to defend our rights and the interests of our people. The British have decided to take us on through the MDC.” – February 2002 Elections

“We belong to this continent. We do not mind having and bearing sanctions banning us from Europe. We are not Europeans. We have not asked for any inch of Europe or any square inch of that territory. Blair, keep your England and let me keep my Zimbabwe.” – 2002 Earth Summit

“We cannot discuss with allies of the West. The devil is the devil and we have no idea of supping with the devil.” – February 2004

“He is arrogant – he thinks by virtue of his being white, by virtue of his being the prime minister of Great Britain, he can dictate to us.” – February 2008

I mean, does this sound like a man who sees a Knighthood as some kind of honour? Isn’t a Knighthood just a symbol of the very Western power, superiority and elitism that Sir Robert Mugabe rallies against?!

What Her Majesty has really done is relieve Sir Robert Mugabe of the burden of hypocrisy.

How would Sir Robert Mugabe gone about spewing so much rhetoric and trash-talk if our leaders and the MSM had referred to him respectfully by his proper title all along?

Would Sir Robert Mugabe have found it as easy rale against the West if we all kept referring to him as Sir Robert?

That is why, I, for one, will refer to him from now on as SIR ROBERT MUGABE, and demand as of publishing this blog post that the President of Zimbabwe has his Knighthood immediately reinstated!
