[Londonland] Islampic Bid

Posted by Lex Fear on March 4, 2007

I was sent this by a friend the other day:

Dear All

Take a second to cast your vote in the Evening Standard online poll to determine public opinion about whether a mega mosque should be build for the Olympics.

The vote so far is 62 % in favour. It looks like the Muslim community is casting its vote in droves, and as usual the Christians are burying their head in the sand.

After voting, forward this to as many people as you can (using the BCC field to avoid spam). Here’s the link:

<http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/poll/poll-18791-details/ques-18669-id/%C2%A3100m+mosque%3A+Vote+now/poll.do>http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/poll/poll-18791-details/ques-18669-id/%C2%A3100m+mosque%3A+Vote+now/poll.do

I can’t really understand why there are still some people out there that will forward these kinds of things on.

Personally if there was any choice I’d prefer to see the whole Olympics ditched. Sorry, Londonland does not deserve the Olympics much less a mega-mosque. In fact, I’m probably the only person who’d prefer to see a mega-mosque than an Olympic park to be honest.

[Satire] Read My Niqab

Posted by Lex Fear on October 7, 2006

I’m considering wearing a bucket on my head when I have to speak to people outside my church.

If they can’t understand what I’m saying due to the reverberations of my voice in the bucket, or get conflicting messages because they can’t read my expressions, I will then accuse them of failing to understand my beliefs, being racist, anti-Christian and creating a divide between me and them.

After I live in a democratic country where I am free to express my beliefs and opinions and it’s an expression of my religious freedom to wear a bucket on my head. I can communicate my ideas quite clearly with a bucket on my head, and if people refuse to understand then they are obviously fascists.

[Spam] Iraq, Iraq, Iraq, The Eagle and the Koran (sic)

Posted by Lex Fear on October 3, 2006

A new and creative Urban Legend is making it’s way around the internet. D did the thoughtful thing of emailing me a copy as she knows I have a good Bullshat detector (kind of like a Bullshit detector but not as abrasive).

The email is as follows (100’s of email forward addresses removed), however I have interlaced it with my own observations:

[Popewatch] Burn This Blog!

Posted by Lex Fear on September 18, 2006

“By the extremist’s actions and moderate’s silence, the words of Emperor Paleologus are fully justified.”

It would have been easy for me to satirise the irony of the recent ‘protests’ in the Muslim world regarding the Popes speech last Tuesday, where he quoted a 14th Century Byzantine Emperor commenting on Islam:

“Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.” – Manuel II Paleologus

Regardless of the fact this is a historical quote which has been drawn out of it’s original intent and context, I find myself knocked down by the irony.

The Pope now finds himself demonised the world over (not so much by Westernised Muslims) for painting Islam as a religion of violence. And how do these loud self-appointed representatives of the peaceful religion of Islam respond to these allegations? With death threats and violence.

What Westernised Muslims should now be doing is condemning not the Pope, nor the words of an ancient Emperor, but their misguided brothers and sisters worldwide.

By the extremist’s actions and moderate’s silence, the words of Emperor Paleologus are fully justified.

[Religious Peedom] Don’t Shit On Mecca

Posted by Lex Fear on August 23, 2006

I was sent this link to BBC News this morning:

“Facilities in a prison are being built so Muslim inmates do not have to face Mecca while sitting on the toilet…

“…Faith leaders had told prison bosses it was unacceptable for Muslim inmates to face Mecca while using the toilet…

…The refurbishment has been carried out with due consideration for all faiths”, a Home Office spokeswoman said…”

If you ask me this is just a waste of your “freedom of religious expression”. If it was me I’d be milking it for all I could get-

“Sorry, these bars are facing the wrong way to my spiritual homeland, please move them”
“My faith calls for me to do everything wearing no clothes for at least 5 hours a day”
“Allah gets offended if I don’t eat enough Ben & Jerry’s”
“My faith requires me to attend a cinema to pray at least twice a week”

Still, we have to give them credit for toilets, I don’t think anyone could top that idea! So is this asymmetrical warfare against plumbers or what?

There’s too many jokes in this and I’ve gone for the obvious, can you do any better? Leave a comment, that goes for all you lurkers…
