[‘N’ is for…] BNP, protests and general annoyance.

Posted by BHudson on June 9, 2009

Well, the putsch has come off well, and the British Nazi Party have taken two seats in the European Parliament. As an extremist party, they won the votes because they appeared untainted by the uproar over expenses and the following witch hunt. Most people, of course vote irrationally – it seems to have been easy for some 0.7% of the population to overlook the racist fearmongering because of their concerns about immigration, and a general dissatisfaction with mainstream parties. Irrationality, of course, is at the heart of the BNP’s strength.

Nick Griffin, a man for whom I have many words and little time, is always denying his party’s racist ideals whilst endorsing Party style manuals with phrases such as ‘you should not refer to British Asians or British Muslims, for the simple reason that such people do not exist.’ Like all abhorrent groups, they thrive on oppression, which gives them a chance to whine about their freedom of speech and cast themselves as defenders of democracy. Now, I have very little sympathy for Griffin, and was even slightly pleased by the disressed look on his normally smug face as he fled the mob outside Parliament. That said, throwing eggs is yet to effect any substantial political change.

In this case, it has just let him say that they prevented him from bearing the scutiny of the media. Public scrutiny is what this party needs most. Protests are very well, but a few well placed questions in public would serve better to show just how racist they are.

Times is ‘ard, and people are angry. This produces the ‘perfect storm’ Griffin had been waiting for to give him a foothold in government. Perhaps it is the supposed detrimental effects of immigration (my view on immigrants is extremely simple, and rather unpopular these days, but that’s another post), or the fear of a loss of sovereignty, or anger at the mainstream parties, but suddenly the BNP seemed somewhat more palatable to the voters. An increasingly popular lie: ‘I know they used to be Nazi knuckle-draggers, but they’ve changed – they’re just like us, even if some of the Nazi knuckle-draggers are in the shadows.’ The truth – the Nazi knuckle-draggers are running the show. The BNP will never be civilised or worthy of a vote.

PS. Sorry for my long absence. This is really just an opinion article that seemed worthwhile regarding the recent EP elections. Now I’ve got more time, I might be able to come up with a couple of posts on political theory.

[Health & Safety] More Lessons In Killing For The Met

Posted by Lex Fear on April 5, 2009

I don’t think I want to be safe anymore. I don’t think I want the police to “protect” me from terrorists, anarchists or active protesters.

I’m not a member of the above groups, which means, being an innocent subject of the UK, my life is at risk when the security services are targetting the above groups.

Once again, security services were on high paranoid alert, itchy trigger fingers, or in this case, itchy baton hand.

And if we are to believe that the slaying of Jean Charles de Menezes was an honest, sincere mistake, WHAT BLOODY LESSONS WERE LEARNED?

I feel sorry for Ian Tomlinson’s widow and family. I feel sorry for the grueling smear and dirty tricks campaign that is about to befall them.

You know the drill by now, check the boxes which apply:

It will probably take about 3-4 years, and in the end they may be lucky to win a simple breach of the Health & Safety at Work Act against the Met, along with a “Sorry” and “Lessons have been learned”.

After all, if they can get away with shooting an innocent man, they can get away with shoving one too.

[Minitruth] Loss of Confidence

Posted by Lex Fear on July 6, 2007

This Post Is Rated: C for Controversial. Speculation over the decline of trust in British institutions.

In may, the Economist highlighted a YouGov poll taken earlier this year showing a general decline in the British peoples trust in public services, politics, work and journalism.

“…Confidence in almost every area of public life has fallen since the invasion of Iraq in 2003.” – The Economist, Trust Me, I’m A Judge

Unsurprisingly the only people to have gained more trust from the public were judges, whilst the usual suspects, including police, NHS hospital managers, estate agents, MPs and newspapers lost trust.

It’s easy to see why. I speak from my own experience in dealing with ‘the system’. People are realising that whilst those in authority seek more and more power over every detail of our lives, restricting our freedoms, judges are our last great hope in clearing our name and keeping society in balance.

Whilst the government seeks to speed up justice and skip past important checks and balances, the judge is a human being, our last recourse and hope for clearing our name and defending our innocence and rights. As the government have introduced more and more restrictive legislation, more and more British people have come to rely upon the courts to treat them fairly.

When are we going to have an honest, competent, open government? One that looks to the bottom line when making decisions and laws, a government that stands for integrity and trust?

I’m fed up of seeing pandering to the rhetorical right, unaccountability, cover ups, tax solves all problems, empty promisestechnology solves everythingmotorists are evil, environmental hypocrisy, weasel words, VIP treatment, cultivating fear, wasted money, not protecting UK citizens and allowing foreigners to dictate policy.

[Mentality] How To Be A Victim

Whoa, Alex, getting personal now?

Well, in a way yes, but no, not really.

[‘Accidents’ Happen] Propaganda Still A Threat To The UK

Posted by Lex Fear on December 23, 2006

“I thought it was only the mafia that referred to killing people as “accidents”…”

Sorry, but I just couldn’t let this one go…

Met Chief’s Terror Plot Warning

I really am fed up with the kind bull that Sir Ian Blair spews. The latest article by the BBC says it all:

“Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair claims the UK is facing an unparalleled and growing threat of a terrorist attack.

However, he said there was “no specific intelligence” about an imminent attack but the threat was “ever present”.” – BBC News (cont.)

Is it just me that questions the logic of that statement? There is “no specific intelligence” but the threat is “ever present”. Does this sound a little Orwellian to you? It should. Either there must be specific intelligence, or there is no threat, you can’t just say that it’s ever present. It’s like saying there is a threat of a meteor crashing into earth- there are small bits of meteors crashing all the time. As for a large one, yes it could happen, but we don’t go around warning each other everyday or living under the cloud of the threat.

“Sir Ian also said he was “confident” of being cleared of misconduct over the killing of Jean Charles de Menezes.

And he defended an anti-terror raid in Forest Gate, claiming the shooting of a man during the raid was an accident.” (cont.)

I thought it was only the mafia that referred to killing people as “accidents”. As far as accidents go, I hope I don’t end up a police “accident” as I’m running for the tube one day (yet another reason not to use the tube).

I don’t know about you but I am just not comfortable with that term “accident”. It makes it sound like something less significant. Let’s not forget, a man lost his life here, an innocent man who happened to be of the wrong skin tone.

I’m sure if Mr De Menzes by some miracle had survived 6 shots fired into his forehead at point blank range, he would have a different take on the incident.

The commissioner criticised the length of the inquiry, adding: “It’s difficult to understand how an organisation can take 13 months to investigate what I did or did not say on one particular day.”

I must congratulate the commissioner on a clever and great example of deflecting responsibility. Why else would an organisation take 13 months to investigate what you said? There’s a PR tactic that you may have heard of, it’s call disinformation. The only reason there could be any difficulty in establishing facts is differing accounts. The delay, commissioner, is with you and the Met.

[Godless Republicans] Change The Reality!

Posted by Lex Fear on October 8, 2006

“Remember those history lessons at school where you learned about how Hitler manipulated the media (radio and magazines) to convert the country to Nazism? We are now witnessing history brought back to life”

I really wanted to blog on the topic of shamed Republican (R-FL) Mark Foley, but after the last few days I’ve ran out of energy. This was a combination of 6 hours working on the last post, being out clubbing Friday evening as part of my work leaving thing- then having to get up early on Saturday morning to go to the dentist about a large hole in my tooth (filling dropped out in the week). I felt like shipwreck this morning and my throat was sore (shouldn’t have smoked that second cigar). I didn’t really drink at all but after leaving the club at 2.30am, one of the guys persuaded us to go for curry. We left Birmingham at 3.30am and got to my friends by 4. Stayed there till 4.30 then drove home and got in at 5am.

So I’m glad to see that Josh has posted something on his blog, Silent Speaking:

“His [Newt Gingrich] statements just rub me the wrong way, and they are very telling of many politician’s refusal to humbly admit wrong without pointing the finger back at their enemies somehow; always blaming someone or something else … This is like the instictive argument of a child who tries to somehow cover his fault by saying ‘But he started it!’ or ‘but so-and-so did this’ implying ‘this’ was much worse than what he did as if that nullifies the fault somehow.

…the problem is Republicans certainly first found it advantagous to use Bill Clinton’s unscrupulous behavior to draw a distinction between themselves and the Democrats based upon ‘morals’ and ‘character”. And as Matthew 7 goes on to say in verse 2, For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Josh, Silent Speaking: But he started it!

The thing that has most impacted me about the affair is how the propaganda arm of the GOP, Fox News, showed video cuts on The O’Reilly Factor with a label running across the screen declaring him a member of the Democrats (D-FL). Remember those history lessons at school where you learned about how Hitler manipulated the media (radio and magazines) to convert the country to Nazism? We are now witnessing history brought back to life:

Source: The BRAD BLOG

This kind of thing should disturb anyone. The O’Reilly Factor is a pre-recorded show, this seems like a blatant attempt to subconsciously get it into the less discerning voters head, that it’s just another sexually immoral Democrat. I’m not going to go any further on this as plenty of other blogs have covered the issue in more detial, however I will leave you with Jon Stewart’s analysis of the blame game, and the shameful attempt to pass it onto (pass it off as) the Democrats:

[Created Image] Gods First Command

Posted by Lex Fear on September 27, 2006

“Where the heck was Adam when Eve was being seduced?”

A little while ago I watched a documentary on Channel 4 called Pram-Face. It was a documentary about young single mothers on benefits- a fly on the wall view of the unglamorous reality of bringing up children alone and on benefits.

Single mothers on benefits, or Pram-faces, get a bad press here in the UK. Generally looked upon with similar disdain reserved for asylum seekers. But something that one of the mothers said, and I’m only quoting from memory, made me stop and think about this particular underclass and their relation to society:

“Ever since I was young I just wanted to have children. I never wanted anything else, I never aspired to anything, just wanted children.”

That’s enough to make a Daily Mail readers’ blood boil. I also know many fellow Xians who would be quick to pick up their stones of righteousness.

In the UK, we live in a society that predominantly looks down upon people who rely on state benefit, particularly if they show no aspirations towards improving their life. We disapprove of young women who seem to have no higher goal than to get pregnant. We class them as a lower intelligence and a lower caste, however I have to question.

Have we as a British society got it the wrong way round?

I’m going to be taking my lead from the Bible, so if you’re not a believer this may not mean much to you, that’s fine. However, to those who connect themselves to faith, God, Jesus or the Word in anyway, it’s time for us to rethink our prejudices.

When I think about the words of the young lady above, I wonder where that desire comes from- where that “low” aspiration and “low” standard was conceived. Then, after some thought, I found the answer, it’s in Gods first command to us human beings:

“So God created people in his own image; God patterned them after himself; male and female he created them. God blessed them and told them, “Multiply and fill the earth and subdue it. Be masters over the fish and birds and all the animals.” – Genesis 1:27-28 NLT

It occurs to me that young girls whose only aspiration on leaving school is to have babies are not aiming low, they’re actually following the highest command given to us. They are following the natural instinct placed in us by God. Does that mean that they should have a baby straight away and out of wedlock? Obviously not! But it we also should assess our values and our treatment of those who aspire to be mothers. It is women who pursue careers, or possessions, or passion without love or commitment who are unnatural- and I mean that only in a theological sense.

So a young women with a desire only for motherhood is not necessarily wrong, certainly not sinning or a moral failure. However it is clear there is something wrong with society and with young women bringing up children alone and on benefit. Unfortunately the media, the culture and the religious right have focused on the victims rather than the perpetrators. The question I have to ask is…

Where are the men?

Rarely do we see a man or young man condemned for the increases in young single mums on benefits. Yet it is young men impregnating young women and not taking up the responsibility of fatherhood. We are becoming a nation of orphans, a nation without fathers, and it is men who are responsible, not single mothers.

Men have abused their position. Whilst a young girl may get frowned at for getting herself pregnant, a young man will get a pat on the back from his mates for ‘nailing’ her, possibly even older men in his life also.

Why is it as a society we don’t hold fathers and sons to account?

We are allowing men to get away with not taking responsibility for their actions, re-enforcing the idea that sex is something they gain as a reward and not something they give to a life-partner. Going from female to female with no thought for the consequences of their actions, boasting of their conquests down the pub.

Religion is partly to blame for this, the sex-culture has taken over but historically religion has misinterpreted Gods intentions. If we read on in Genesis, Eve eventually sinned by eating of the forbidden fruit of the tree of knowledge. God then explains the consequences of their actions, the curse. Mens’ innate lack of responsibility is evident even here:

“Who told you that you were naked?” the LORD God asked. “Have you eaten the fruit I commanded you not to eat?”
“Yes,” Adam admitted, “but it was the woman you gave me who brought me the fruit, and I ate it.”
Then the LORD God asked the woman, “How could you do such a thing?”
“The serpent tricked me,” she replied. “That’s why I ate it.”
So the LORD God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, you will be punished. You are singled out from all the domestic and wild animals of the whole earth to be cursed. You will grovel in the dust as long as you live, crawling along on your belly. From now on, you and the woman will be enemies, and your offspring and her offspring will be enemies. He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”
Then he said to the woman, “You will bear children with intense pain and suffering. And though your desire will be for your husband, he will be your master.”
And to Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate the fruit I told you not to eat, I have placed a curse on the ground. All your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it. It will grow thorns and thistles for you, though you will eat of its grains. All your life you will sweat to produce food, until your dying day. Then you will return to the ground from which you came. For you were made from dust, and to the dust you will return.” – Genesis 3: 11-19 NLT

The second line I have highlighted is a line that has been responsible for much suffering and injustice to women down the ages, ever since it was spoken. It has been used and is still used today by men in authority who do not want to take responsibility or show compassion: though your desire will be for your husband, he will be your master.

I believe mainstream religious authorities have gravely misinterpreted this bit of scripture. Why? Look at Gods original intent for Eve. An equal with Adam, a partner, a lover. What happened? Eve was seduced by the Serpent, and through that seduction she made a gross error. God now puts Eve under Adams authority. Therefore we must ask why God put Eve under Adams authority? Was Gods intention that Adam should lord over Eve, that he should now have some sort of advantage?

For a start, just look at Adams response to being confronted by God. He blames Eve, tries to absolve himself of the responsibility for his actions. Eve can then only blame the Snake (a possible allegory? …only kidding). But there is a
more pressing question that needs to be asked:

Where the heck was Adam when Eve was being seduced?

I reckon God put Adam in authority over Eve for responsibility. God was basically saying to Adam, look you can’t lay blame on someone else, I’m making you responsible for any mistakes in your marriage. God was ordering Adam to care for and look after Eve, to work hard for her, to protect her from the Snakes that are out there.

So as a society, how does God want us to respond to these single mums on benefits? Just as God made Adam responsible for caring, protecting, and working hard for Eve… Perhaps we as a society should be seeking to hold men accountable to the women and children they have abandoned, or are simply too selfish to bring up. Perhaps the Church should seek the opportunity here to lead the way in restoration towards women in general?

I reckon that old and young men who have neglected their father and husband responsibilities are going to have a lot to answer for when they finally meet God.

Thoughts?

[Cover-Ups] Test Case For Legalised Murder Under Terror Laws

Posted by Lex Fear on September 19, 2006

It turns out the execution shooting of Jean Charles De Menezes was a test case for the Met.

“It is not about diminishing the tragedy of Charles de Menezes’ death. We see it as a test case, not only for policing in London but for the police service nationally.” – Commander Moir Stewart

Gosh! Really? So did De Menezes know he was just being volunteered for a test case? What determines if the ‘test’ is successful?

The way I see it for The Met, if this ‘test case’ is successful, they have a license to shoot anyone they like in the head, so long as it is in the name of terror. If unsuccessful, the public at least has the assurity that if they do get murdered killed they can make a Health & Safety claim.

[False Advertising] Gay Police Offend Religious Offenders

Posted by Lex Fear on August 8, 2006

I’ve been trying to work out what it is that offends me about this advertisement that appeared in The Independent on 29th June 2006.

The ad was placed by the Gay Police Association (GPA) in advance of Europride in London.

Something about this ad was really getting on my nerves but I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. After studying it hard for a long time, I found out what was irritating me so much:

“in the name of the father” – They hadn’t referenced their leading bible quote properly! I just hate it when people quote scripture and don’t give you the address of where to find it!

Oh well, I found a scripture that’s equally useful: 1 Corinthians 6:9-11

Now before I’m accused of being a hater, I purposely left in verse 11 for the holier amongst us. I have no problem with the lifestyle choices of non-believers. (update: sorry if that bothers any Gay cops reading this, who are looking for more Christians to persecute).

But I have to ask, why do the police need a GPA? I mean, what does your sexual preference have to do with your ability to do your job? When I was 15 I wanted to join the police, unfortunately I felt discriminated against as they didn’t have an SLPA (Self-Love Police Association).

[Smear Campaigns] Cleared Terror Suspects

Posted by Lex Fear on August 5, 2006

The Daily Express reported yesterday that Mohammed Abdul Kahar (the cleared suspect shot in a terror raid last month) has been questioned over child-pornography allegations.

“Mohammed Abdul Kahar (right) – wounded in the shoulder as armed officers stormed his home – was arrested when he went to a police station with his solicitor…

…Kahar, 23, was interviewed over images allegedly found on a computer at his house in Forest Gate, east London, in June…

…The brothers were arrested after a tip-off that a cyanide bomb was stored in their house. No trace was found and the men were released without charge…

…They had planned to sue the Metropolitan Police and insisted that the shooting was either deliberate or reckless.” – The Daily Express

This scenario should seem familiar because it was only April when another innocent terror suspect, Jean Charles De Menezes was cleared of rape allegations.

“DETECTIVES are investigating claims that Brazilian Jean Charles de Menezes carried out a rape three years ago…

…A woman has come forward claiming the electrician, who was mistakenly shot dead by anti-terror police at Stockwell tube station last July, attacked her in London…

…The de Menezes solicitor Harriet Wistrich said the Independent Police Complaints Commission, which is handling the probe into the 27-year-old’s shooting, asked her several weeks ago whether a DNA sample could be taken for the rape investigation…

…”I pointed out that a sample could not be taken without the consent of the family or by order of the Court”…

…A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said today: “The victim of a rape in the West End of London more than three years ago contacted us earlier this year and provided the name of an alleged suspect.” – The Sun

I find it interesting that the Metropolitan Police were keen to release details of alleged sexual offences for both of these victims of over-zealous terror law enforcement. It’s also interesting that both victims/families had raised a media storm, and were or are considering suing and making claims against the Met.

Is this a new PR damage limitation procedure? I wonder how long it will be before we see a quiet press release clearing Kahar of these charges?
